What Does Emily Like in Stardew Valley

Emily is one of the 12 marriage candidates in Stardew Valley. She lives at 2 Willow Lane with her sister Haley and works behind the bar at the Stardrop Saloon. She loves crystals, sewing, and dancing, and that personality shows in her gift list: most of what she loves comes straight out of the mines or a Loom, making her one of the cheapest villagers in the valley to max out.

Her birthday is Spring 27. Give a loved gift that day for the 8x birthday multiplier, which turns a single Amethyst into +640 friendship points.

Emily's Loved Gifts (+80 friendship points each)

These are her favorites. You can give her two gifts per week, plus one on her birthday.

GiftHow to Get
AmethystMine floors 1-39, geodes, or Dwarvish Helm artifact spots
AquamarineMine floors 40-79, Fishing/Mining nodes, geodes
EmeraldMine floors 80+, gem nodes, Frozen/Magma geodes
JadeMine floors 40-79, gem nodes, geodes
RubyMine floors 80+, gem nodes, Magma geodes
TopazMine floors 1-39, gem nodes, geodes (cheapest of the bunch)
ClothLoom (Wool x1), or recycle Soggy Newspaper, or Mummy drops
WoolShear sheep, or harvest Rabbits with a Rabbit hutch
Survival BurgerCook (Bread x1, Cave Carrot x1, Eggplant x1), Foraging skill recipe

Universal loved gifts also work on Emily: Prismatic Shard, Pearl, Magic Rock Candy, Rabbit's Foot, Golden Pumpkin, and Stardrop Tea. Note that Diamond counts as a universal love too, so it lands at +80 even though it is not on her personal list.

Best early-game pick: Amethyst or Topaz. Both drop constantly in the upper mines, cost nothing, and give the full 80 points. Emily loving six different gems means almost any mining trip stocks a gift, so she is far easier to grind than fussier villagers.

Gifts Emily Likes (+45 friendship points each)

Solid backups when you are out of loved gifts.

  • Daffodil, a free Spring forage found all over town
  • Quartz, an extremely common mine drop
  • Most Universal Likes: all other gems and minerals, foraged items, fruit, and most cooked dishes
  • Most flowers and most vegetables

Daffodils are worth grabbing every time you pass one in Spring. They cost you nothing and stack up fast for a villager who lives right in the middle of town.

What Emily Dislikes and Hates

Emily is the valley's animal lover, so she turns up her nose at fish dishes and anything that feels cruel. Disliked gifts cost -20 points and hated gifts cost -40.

Disliked: Salmonberry, Fried Eel, Spicy Eel, Ice Cream, and Rice Pudding.

Hated: Fish Taco, Maki Roll, Salmon Dinner, Sashimi, and Holly. In short, never hand her a fish dish, and skip Holly in Winter.

Where to Find Emily (Schedule)

Emily is one of the easiest villagers to track down because she keeps a regular routine around town and the Saloon.

  • Mornings: at home at 2 Willow Lane, usually until around 11am
  • Midday: walks through town, often stopping at Pierre's General Store
  • Tuesdays and most evenings: tending the bar at the Stardrop Saloon from roughly 4pm to midnight
  • Wednesdays: her day off, more time at home and around town
  • Rainy days: she still heads to the Saloon, so check there first

Tip: The Saloon is the single most reliable place to catch her. If you swing by in the evening she is almost always behind the counter, which makes a daily gift-and-chat routine simple to keep.

How to Romance and Marry Emily

  1. Reach 8 hearts of friendship.
  2. Buy a Bouquet from Pierre's for 200g and give it to her to start dating.
  3. Get the Mermaid's Pendant from the Old Mariner on the beach on a rainy day for 5,000g (requires at least one farmhouse upgrade first).
  4. Give her the Mermaid's Pendant to propose.

As a spouse, Emily keeps the parrot from her 4-heart event in your farmhouse and sets up a sewing area. She is cheerful, often dances around the farm, and will occasionally hand you gifts that fit her crafty personality.

Emily's Heart Events

Each milestone unlocks a cutscene, and two of them mail you cooking recipes for free.

2 Hearts (her house, 2 Willow Lane): You witness one of her vivid dreams about a glowing crystal.

3 Hearts (mail): She sends you the Salad recipe.

4 Hearts (town, sunny day, not Winter): She nurses an injured parrot back to health. This is the same parrot that lives with her after marriage.

6 Hearts (Stardrop Saloon, 11pm to midnight): Emily performs a secret dance routine. Respond positively when she asks what you think to earn the friendship bonus.

7 Hearts (mail): She sends you the Red Plate recipe.

8 Hearts (Mayor's Manor): The "Clothing Therapy" event, where she tailors a custom outfit for you on the spot.

10 Hearts (Secret Woods, after 10pm): You camp out together and meet a bear. You must already be dating her (Bouquet given after 8 hearts) for this event to trigger.

14 Hearts (post-marriage): A spouse-only event that develops her story further once you are married.

Tips to Build Friendship with Emily Quicker

Gift twice a week, every week. Two gems at +80 each is +160 points per week. 10 hearts requires 2,500 points, reachable in roughly four months from gifts alone.

Talk to her every day. Each conversation adds +20 points. Since she is almost always at home in the morning or the Saloon at night, a daily hello is effortless.

Never miss her birthday (Spring 27). One loved gem on her birthday is +640 points, about four weeks of double-gifting packed into a single hand-off.

Hoard your gems. Because Emily loves six different gems plus Cloth and Wool, you rarely need to farm anything special. Toss spare Amethysts, Topaz, Jade, and Aquamarine into a chest labeled for her.

Set up a Loom early. One sheep plus a Loom gives you an endless supply of Wool and Cloth, two of her loved gifts, with zero gathering effort once it is running.

Mind the calendar. Friendship cannot be built during festivals, and a gift only counts once per day. Know her schedule so a gifting slot is never wasted.
