World of Warcraft: Midnight - How to Push +10 Key With PuGs

World of Warcraft Midnight Mythic Plus guide

Midnight has been live since March 2, 2026, and the Mythic+ season kicked off on March 24. If you missed the guild memo or simply prefer the chaos of random groups, the Mythic dungeons boost route is always there as a backup plan. But if you want to earn that +10 completion yourself-with strangers who may or may not know where the tank is supposed to go-this guide covers exactly what it takes.

The Season 1 pool consists of eight dungeons: four brand-new Midnight instances and four returning classics from previous expansions. You will be running these all season, so learning each route pays off fast. The newcomers- Magisters' Terrace, Maisara Caverns, Nexus-Point Xenas, and Windrunner Spire-bring fresh mechanics, while legacy dungeons like Algeth'ar Academy (Dragonflight) and Seat of the Triumvirate (Legion) give veterans a familiar edge.

Why +10 Is the Magic Number

There is a specific reason the whole community converges on +10 as the weekly target: the Great Vault. Completing a timed +10 unlocks an ilvl 272 reward in your weekly vault-a massive jump compared to what lower keys offer. On top of that, hitting +10 in each of the eight dungeons grants a permanent dungeon teleport, which saves a lot of loading screen time over the season. According to the Season 1 overview, completing a timed +10 or higher in each dungeon is also tied to several seasonal milestone achievements.

At +10 and above, both Fortified and Tyrannical affixes run simultaneously-every week, no rotation. Below that threshold, they alternate. This is the wall most PuG groups feel when they first step from +9 to +10: the dungeon simply hits harder across the board.

Gear Requirements at a Glance

Before you queue, make sure your character clears these thresholds:

Key LevelEnd-of-Dungeon ilvlGreat Vault ilvlRecommended ilvl
+2239246230+
+6–7252–259 (Hero)259245+
+10266272258–262+
+12+266 (cap)280+268+

Note that end-of-dungeon loot stops scaling at +12, but Great Vault rewards keep climbing all the way to +18. So pushing beyond +10 is still very much worth it if your group is capable.

Affixes to Know Before You Queue

Season 1 brought one new affix, Lindormi's Guidance: active at key levels +2 through +5. It marks specific mobs, reduces their health and damage by 5%, and most importantly, does not penalize the timer on player deaths. Think of it as Blizzard acknowledging that low-key PuGs sometimes need a gentle nudge in the right direction.

As you push your Mythic+ keys to +6 and beyond, the dungeon landscape shifts dramatically as Xal'atath's Bargain affixes take over the rotation on a weekly basis. This introduces a fresh layer of complexity, demanding new strategies and constant adaptability from your group. The true test of coordination and endurance, however, arrives at the +10 milestone. Reaching this level fundamentally amplifies the difficulty by forcing you to deal with both the Fortified and Tyrannical affixes simultaneously, turning every single trash pack and boss encounter into a highly lethal, high-health roadblock.

To successfully navigate these shifting challenges and continue pushing your score, understanding the specific mechanics of each seasonal affix is crucial. Knowing how to quickly counter or even exploit Xal'atath's meddling can easily be the difference between timing a key and depleting it. Here is a quick rundown of the various Bargain affixes you will encounter and what your group needs to do to handle them:

  • Bargain: Ascendant: orbs appear with heavy absorb shields; bring dispels and interrupts rather than trying to burn through them.
  • Bargain: Pulsar: players need to stack and clear Pulsars together; solo clearing takes too long and wastes time.
  • Bargain: Devour: this is not a pure healer job; every player should use their own personal dispels and class/racial abilities to handle their Devour stacks.

Getting a +10 Done With PuGs: Practical Tips

PuG runs have one built-in advantage: everyone wants to time the key and move on. There is no raid-night gossip slowing things down. The disadvantage is that coordination beyond pings and markers is usually wishful thinking. These tips help bridge the gap:

  • Check the affix rotation before queuing: Tyrannical weeks make bosses significantly more punishing, so adjust your group composition (more single-target damage) and save Bloodlust for dangerous boss phases.
  • Use Mythic Dungeon Tools (MDT) addon to plan or copy routes before entering: knowing the pull order is what separates a timed key from a 2-minute overtime.
  • Communicate interrupt assignments in chat at the start; most wipes on +10s come from uncontrolled casts, not from raw DPS being too low.
  • Front-load your defensives on the first dangerous trash pack rather than saving everything for bosses: dead DPS contributes zero damage, regardless of cooldown.
  • For Magisters' Terrace specifically, be aware that the overall M+ timer sits around 29 minutes 30 seconds for Season 1 dungeons; skips and optimal pathing matter more than raw throughput.

When PuGs Are Not Cutting It

Some weeks the group composition is simply wrong for the affix, or the key depletes twice in a row and nobody is learning from it. That is a reasonable point to consider your options. A premade group is the obvious first step: even two or three coordinated players make PuG runs significantly smoother. If the schedule does not allow for a static group, a mythic dungeons boost can cover the Great Vault threshold for the week without the coin-flip nature of random groups. It is not a long-term skill solution, but it keeps your progression moving when time is limited.

Either way, the +10 wall in Midnight Season 1 is very clearable for most players who put in the prep work: correct gear, correct affix awareness, and a basic plan for each dungeon. The Voidstorm is not going anywhere, and neither are the teleports waiting on the other side of that timer.
