What is the density enchantment ?
The density enchantment is a powerful enchantment that can be used to increase the damage of your Mace. It has been introduced in Minecraft 1.21, and gives a damage bonus to your Mace as you accelerate while falling from a high place. The higher the fall, the higher the damage. So if you want to fall on your enemies and one shot them, you clearly should enchant your Mace with density.
How to enchant a Mace with density ?
1. Gather ingredients
We already covered how to get a Mace in Minecraft. Once you have got your own Mace, you can enchant it with density.
You can get a book from multiple sources. You can obtain it by breaking a book shelf, or by crafting a book directly in a crafting table.
2. Enchant the Mace with density
Set up an enchanting table
To get the best enchantments, you should surround your enchanting table with at least 15 bookshelves. This way, you'll get the best enchantments. Just make sure to be at least level 30 to get access to density V.
Enchant the Mace
Once you have a Mace, use the enchanting table with Lapis Lazuli to enchant it with density. If you can't find the density enchantment, you can try to get it on a book.
We highly recommend to use a book to enchant the Mace with density, in particular if density isn't displayed as the main enchantment of the Mace. Once you give a book an enchantment, a new enchantment possibility will be displayed on the Mace. Repeat this operation until you get access to the density enchantment.
How does density work ?
Density is exclusively available on Maces. The mace does more damage for each block fallen when attacking from a high place. With Density, the damages you deal are increased by 0.5 for each enchantment level.
This means density 5 will deal 2.5 damage per block fallen before hitting the enemy.
Example: If you have a Mace with density I, and you fall from 10 blocks, you will deal 5 more damage. If you have a Mace with density II, you will deal 10 more damage. If you have a Mace with density III, you will deal 15 more damage. And so on.
Enchant a mace with commands
For Java Edition players, you can directly enchant your Mace with the following commands:
- Density I:
/enchant @p density 1
- Density II:
/enchant @p density 2
- Density III:
/enchant @p density 3
- Density IV:
/enchant @p density 4
- Density V:
/enchant @p density 5
One shot bosses
It's versus bosses like the Warden or the Wither that Density shines. Using Density V makes you deal an insane amount of damage with one good hit. You just need to jump from around 100 blocks, and you can kill a Warden in a single click !
Conclusion
Density is a powerful enchantment that can be used to deal a lot of damage with a single hit. It's especially useful against bosses like the Warden or the Wither. It could be useful in PvP as well, if you can catch a player by surprise by jumping on them.
