Axolotls eat tropical fish. They only like alive fishes, so you won't be able to give them any you have got with your fishing rod. This means you can't just give them fish with a right click on them, you need to catch a tropical fish with a water bucket. Follow these next steps to feed an Axolotl.
- Gather 3 iron ingots.
- Craft a bucket. In two rows of your crafting table, place the ingots forming a V. Place 1 Iron Ingot in the
center of the table, then put the 2 others in the top corners.
- Fill the bucket with water with a right click on a water source.
- Find a Tropical Fish. There are many types of Tropical Fish, they tend to live in deep water under the ocean in warm biomes (between Y=50 and Y=64).
- Catch the fish by using your water bucket on it.
- Find an Axolotl and equip your Bucket of Tropical Fish. They will start following you as long as you keep the bucket equiped.
- To feed an Axolotl, use your tropical fish bucket on it.
