Dungeons are one of Palworld's most rewarding features, with time-limited caves packed with rare Pals, powerful loot, and a boss Alpha Pal waiting at the end. Whether you're a new player looking for your first cavern or a veteran farming endgame gear, this guide covers every dungeon location across the entire Palpagos Islands map, including the Sakurajima and Feybreak DLC zones.
What Are Dungeons in Palworld?
Dungeons appear as dark cave entrances in cliff faces, often surrounded by trees or foliage that helps them blend into the environment. When you approach one, you'll see the recommended level and the type of dungeon before entering.
Key things to know:
- Time-limited: Each dungeon stays open for approximately 299 minutes (5 hours) before closing.
- Loot: Chests scattered inside, plus two reward chests at the end after defeating the Alpha Pal.
- Alpha Pals: Each dungeon ends with a boss encounter, and the specific Pal depends on the dungeon type.
- Ancient Civilization Parts: Guaranteed reward for defeating the final Alpha boss, essential for late-game crafting.

How Dungeons Respawn
Unlike most in-game resources, dungeons do not respawn on a day/night cycle. Instead, a dungeon respawns after enough other dungeons in the world have closed off. To maintain a constant farming loop, it is recommended to actively complete around 20 dungeons before the first ones start reopening. Combining multiple farming routes keeps the cycle going without waiting.

Tips for Efficient Dungeon Farming
Build a farming route. Rather than wandering, map out a loop of 15–20 dungeons across multiple regions. As you complete early dungeons, the later ones in your route will have already respawned by the time you return.
Match your level. Always check the recommended level before entering. Underpowered teams will struggle with the Alpha Pal boss and may waste the run.
Know your Alpha. Each dungeon type has a specific pool of possible Alpha Pals. If you're targeting a specific Pal (e.g., Mossanda Lux), focus on Volcanic Caverns on Mount Obsidian.
Bring the right gear. Volcanic and Feybreak zones require heat-resistant armor. Astral Mountains and Feybreak's Frozen Coral Hill areas require cold-resistant gear.
Slab Fragments are endgame priorities. Cherry Blossom and Feybreak dungeons both drop Slab Fragments, which are needed for high-level Raid Boss summons. Farming these regularly is essential for late-game progression.
Use a flying Pal. Many dungeon clusters are spread across terrain that is much faster to traverse by air. Jetragon or another flying mount will dramatically speed up your farming routes.
What's in Dungeon Chests?
Chests inside dungeons drop a range of useful items:
- Schematics (random rarity, can exceed what the Technology tree offers)
- Gold coins
- Consumables (food, medicine)
- Accessories
- Materials
The two chests at the end of each dungeon (near the Alpha Pal boss) tend to have the best loot. The schematic rarity depends on the dungeon type and tier.
