The compass recipe
The Minecraft Compass recipe is quite easy. Only 2 types of ingredients are needed. All you need is 4 iron ingots and 1 redstone. Place the 4 ingots on the sides and the redstone in the middle.

You will easily find iron mining in caves and crevices. This is one of the most basic ore you can find in Minecraft. Melt it in a furnace to get iron ingots. Mostly used for basic armors, tools and weapons, it can be used to make a Compass.
How to use a Compass
Using a compass is pretty straightforward. All you have to do is to hold it in your hand and watch the red line. The line is pointing towards your spawn point. All you have to do to find your spawn point is to walk in the red line direction.
Once you have arrived, the red line should logically turn the opposite way.
Point a compass to bed
This is sadly not possible. You can't make a Minecraft compass point to a bed in order to find your current respawn point.
The Compass is by default only made to point to the world spawn. This makes the basic compass quite useless. But there is a way to make it point to your base ! The only way to do this is to use a lodestone.
How to make a Lodestone Compass
To make your compass point to a lodestone, you only have to right click the compass on it. There are quite some useful tricks to know.
Once you have got your lodestone compass, you should rename it. This is really practicle if you have many of them. You can for example have one pointing to your house, one to your mine, or anywhere in the world you would like to remember the place.
All you have to do is use an anvil. Place it inside of it and change the name. Once you get it back in your inventory, you can quickly check which compass points to which location.
